GROOMSPORT 2 - 1 BALLYWALTER REC

In the first half of the game against old rivals Balltwalter Rec, Groomsport never got to grips with the long ball tactics of the opposition,and went in at half time 1 nil down.

A stern halftime team discussion galvanised the home side and they came out for the second half determined to play their fluid passing game. The home defence finally took charge of the Walter forwards and began to play the ball on the ground. Groomsport were rewarded when a Ballywalter defender clumsily pulled down Campbell in the penalty box, Coulter stepped up to the mark and fired home the spot kick. Groomsport continued to dominate the game and Hay scored what was to be the winner when he finished off a great passsing move.

GROOMSPORT 7 - 2 ALBION STAR

Groomsport rounded off this seasons fixtures with a comprehensive victory over Albion Star at the Meadow. Groomsport were determined to finish the season in style and soon got to grips with a slick playing surface Cameron opened the scoreing for the home side and from then to the final whistle Groomsport were always in command. further goals from Hay 2, Bell 2, Craig and Caldwell meant that Groomsport finished the season in 5th place.

Once again this means that the villagers are the highest placed junior team in the area.

GROOMSPORT 2 - 1 ARDGLASS

Groomsport had Ardglass as visitors on Saturday. Groomsport made one personel change to the starting line up with Campbell coming in on the right side of midfield and Cameron moving up front along side Hay. Bell was still feeling the effects of his nose injury and joined Caldwell and Morrow on the bench. The home side started slowly against a youthful Ardglass side and it took them sometime to get to grips with the opposition. The Port took the lead when Cameron fired home from close range. Ardglass were dangerous from set pieces and they got their equalizer from a corner. This stung the Port into action and a through ball from Pundyke split the visitors defence Cameron latched on to the ball and slid it across the six-yard box for Hay to finish. This was the final action of the first half.

The second half started with Groomsport on top. Hay had two great efforts saved by the Ardglass keeper. Craig was then up ended in the penalty box and The Port were awarded a penalty. Unfortunately Cameron missed with his shot. Groomsport then made a triple substitution with Bell, Caldwell and Morrow replacing Cameron, Craig and Campbell The game continued with Groomsport in control but unable to increase their advantage. The game ended with Groomsport worthy 2 - 1 winners.

GROOMSPORT 2 - 1 FORD

On a bright Tuesday evening Groomsport entertained old rivals Ford at the Meadow.

The Groomsport starting 11 was Cummings, Coulter, Garrett, Pundyke,Liddel, Cameron, Ferguson, Craig, Dunbar, Bell and Hay. The subs bench was filled by Caldwell, Morrow and Campbell. After last Saturdays lackluster performance the Port started the game brightly and Craig opened the scoring with a well taken goal. He collected the ball in his own half made ground and hit a thunderous shot from 30 yards that left the Ford keeper wrong footed. Groomsport continued to press but received a set back on the half hour. Both Hay and Bell challanged with a defender for the same header and Bell fell to his knees. It was discovered that he had broken his nose. This necessitated a re-shuffle in the Port side with Caldwell coming into mid field and Craig moving to his normal striker role.It took the Port some time to settle and Ford came into the game more for the remainder of the first half.
